Financial Literacy and Economic Success

Economic stability is a critical element for the well-being of families. We provide income tax assistance, adult education (Plaza Comunitaria), financial education and more.

Free tax preparation assistance

We provide households with free tax preparation assistance during tax season (January – April) through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

VITA offers free tax help to people who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

Our IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

In 2018 our tax assistance program reached 732 households generating $887,000 in refunds, averaging $1,212/family.

This program is made possible by the following generous funders: Citi Community Development, Mechanics Bank, Napa Valley Community Foundation, Wells Fargo Bank, Auction Napa Valley/Napa Valley Vintners, United Way of the Bay Area, and many individual donors.
