Economic Success and Adult Education

Economic stability is a critical element for the well-being of families. We provide free tax preparation, ITIN application and renewal assistance, financial coaching, assistance with unemployment & disability applications, and more.

VITA / Free Tax Preparation

We provide households with free tax preparation assistance during tax season (January – April) through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

The UpValley Family Centers VITA team members are IRS-certified to provide free expert tax preparation services for households earning less than $65,000 per year and help maximize refunds – including Earned Income and Child Care Tax Credit claims.

In 2020 our VITA program provided 600 households with free tax preparation assistance, which resulted in $1,086,613 in refunds – of which $180,563 came back through EITC benefits.

Free Tax Preparation is made possible by our VITA Volunteers and generous Sponsors: Citi Community Development, The Strong Communities Fund of the Napa Valley Community Foundation, United Way of the Bay Area, Napa Valley Vintners/Auction Napa Valley, Wells Fargo, and individual donors.

Holiday Assistance Program

The UpValley Family Centers Holiday Assistance Program serves individuals and families who reside in Napa County north of Yountville.

El Programa de Asistencia para las Fiestas Navideñas de UpValley Family Centers sirve a individuos y familias que residen en el condado de Napa al norte de Yountville.

Winter is always a tough time for workers in Napa’s wine and hospitality industry: as harvest comes to an end, work hours and jobs dry up. Our annual Holiday Assistance Program brings some light to this dark season every year, providing families with groceries for a festive holiday meal, toys for their kids, and gift cards to purchase household necessities – like winter coats and warm blankets.

Holiday cheer lifts up our families, seniors, and the community as a whole, and we are asking your help to make it happen. Your donation will help bring upvalley families some holiday cheer this December.
