Calistoga Community Schools Initiatives

Mission

To engage students and families in meaningful learning opportunities to prepare them for a better future through collaborative partnerships that increase access to resources, leading to stronger families and a healthier community.

The Calistoga Community Schools Initiative (CCSI) was created to bring together a range of community stakeholders to address the many issues that families face in Calistoga by aligning efforts in key areas affecting education, health, and wellness. CCSI is a public-private partnership that includes the school district, local government, and private nonprofit organizations. As a birth-to-college initiative it is focused on holistic support for children and families so that all students graduate high school ready for college, careers and their future.

UpValley Family Centers of Napa County (UVFC) provides backbone support and coordinates CCSI as well as operating family resource centers in Calistoga and St. Helena. As part of CCSI, UVFC has worked to establish partnerships with organizations that include early childhood programs, school districts, nonprofits, and city and county agencies.

Vision

All Calistoga students will be lifelong learners, equipped with the skills to find success in life and to make a positive impact on the world around them.

CCSI has identified four areas to focus it’s work in addition to initiative coordination, paying special attention to key education transitions (into kindergarten, into middle/high school, high school graduation):

Early Learning

Provide quality early learning and school readiness services to children and families

Family & Student Engagement

Provide youth mentoring and family engagement, leadership, and educational opportunities

Mental Wellness

Provide School-based counseling for students

Healthy Bodies

Provide opportunities to increase physical well-being of families and students.
